Try a Tri
Every summer its the same thing, I volunteer at Triathlons, I watch , I feel inspired and I think I want to try it myself. This has been happening for about 5 years. So last year I decided the only way I was actually going to give it a go was if I signed up for one! SO thats just what I did, a few weeks after the Race the River Tri in Coeur d Alene, I signed up for next years race. Then I signed up for 2 more =)
Tomorrow begins my first 8 weeks of Triathlon training. My first race is APril 15th in Lewiston Idaho. My training schedule looks do-able and I am very excited to try something new! I will keep my training updates here on this Blog. Here is to trying a Tri! I am ready for the next 8 weeks and all the challenges and joy they bring!

We don't live in the same city or compete in the same events, but we're one team. What unite us are hope, courage and determination. We are more than one.
We ride. Run. Walk. Swim. We fight. We are the cyclist facing a long uphill climb in honor of his mother. We are the runner finishing a first marathon in memory of her brother. We are the cancer survivor crossing a 5k finish line after completing treatment.
When you join Team LIVESTRONG you can walk, run, ride or tri in the fight against cancer. Whatever your strengths, whatever your goal, whatever your personal battle, you can make a difference. Check out the 2010 schedule and register for your Team LIVESTRONG event.

Ash Wednesday
Lent is a season of preparation for Christ's passion on the cross and for the resurrection celebrated at Easter. The early Christians observed this season of 40 days plus Sundays with a time of penitence and fasting. The 40 days are a reminder of Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness in preparation for his public ministry.Lent is the most introspective of the church seasons, and in modern times the foci are on self-examination and repentance; prayer, fasting and self-denial; and meditation on the Holy Scriptures. All of these devotional practices, including giving up something, are to help up prepare for Easter.
The practice of fasting or self-denial often receives the most attention. To better prepare, we abstain from something: Alcohol, meat or chocolate are simple pleasures that many people often give up as a Lenten discipline. Giving up peas for me would be no sacrifice; I hate peas. The sacrifice should be something that produces a noticeable absence.
The theological basis for this is simple: Every time we want what we have given up, we are reminded of what Christ gave up for us. Christ gave his life. While our sacrifice pales in comparison, it serves as a frequent reminder of God's overwhelming and complete love for each of us in our season of preparation for the resurrection.
Thank you precious Jesus for your amazing sacrifice! may I be constantly reminded of your beautiful gift of life.
For lent I decided to give up chocolate and all chocolate related things, also no meat on fridays =)
